Birkat HaChamah (Blessing of the Sun), is one of Judaism’s least know and most infrequently performed mitzvot. A tradition from the Talmud (Berachot 59b) is celebrates the return of the sun, moon, constellations, and plants to their original starting point on the Fourth day of Creation. Upon seeing the sun on April 8, 2009, all authorities agree that the following blessing is said: “Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, who renews the acts of Creation." |
